Professional Activities

Sonya has been teaching for over 30 years and has held a variety of positions and taught at all levels. She has been a Director of Religious Studies in Catholic schools and has been a team leader for a Samoan bilingual unit. She has spent time as an ESOL verifier for the Ministry of Education. She has led ICTPD projects in two schools. She has been an organiser for three national conferences and sat on the advisory board for the Dip Tessol for the university of Auckland. She has presented at National and international conferences and her plenary presentation for the Fagasa Conference in Palmerston continues to be her most popular page from her digital portfolio. She has been a member of the advisory group for New Zealand Rail Association. She is also secretary for the ESOL area Cluster and builds and maintains communication.
